A Gift
So I’ve not really been posting/participating on Substack recently. I’ve just had nothing to say or talk about.
With that, I’ve been trying to peruse offline habits and hobbies more.
Which leads us to this: Gifts.
When I started using my Grandmother’s old camera, I didn’t plan on using the prints for gifts for friends. But they came out really well and something about it spoke to me. A cheap and thoughtful present to my nearest and dearest.
I chose 2 images from the 100 odd I snapped and got them reprinted at 10”×8” and then found some cheap frames for £4 each. The idea was to keep the costs down and if the recipient wanted to upgrade the frame then it wouldn’t be a waste from the one I passed on. And both were for 40th birthday presents so were “landmark” gifts.
But I didn’t think about the notion of rejection: “What if they don’t like my photo?”, “how dare I assume that this should adorn their wall” & “fuck”.
Thankfully, the 1st one went very well! I’ll update you on how the one below goes.
Thoughts on this as a gift?

A lovely gift idea, I hope the rest of your family & friends enjoy!!
Hi Tom,
